Please direct your students to SLCC's Getting Started Online Guide, which was developed to help students be successful online. It is primarily directed at those who are new to online learning but it is helpful for even the experienced online learner. It includes a readiness self-assessment, as well as a number of success tips and support resources to guide students.
Canvas Support Hotline
Students and faculty can get immediate Canvas help, 24/7 with no waiting through the Help button [left global menu] that displays whenever you are logged into Canvas. Help provides options to call, call toll-free, chat, email questions, and self-serve through Canvas Guides. Be sure your students know the phone number to the Canvas Support Hotline (801) 957-5125, option#1. The ideal way to use these services is to contact support immediately, while you are at your computer experiencing an issue.
Quality Matters rubric is a national online design standard to which SLCC subscribes. Many of the issues that cause students to struggle with online learning can be addressed in the design phase. By optimizing navigation, instructions, and course flow for students, many common issues are removed in advance.
