Important: As of July 1st, 2022, Proctorio will no longer be available. Online proctoring will be provided by Respondus LDB (LockDown Browser) and Respondus Monitor, which will be available for all face-to-face, hybrid/broadcast, and online courses.
What is Respondus?
Respondus is a company that creates assessment tools for Canvas, among other learning management systems. SLCC has a site license for two primary Respondus software applications:
- Respondus Lock-Down Browser
- Respondus Monitor
Respondus Technical Requirements
Respondus LDB and Monitor work on the following devices:
- Windows
- Mac
- iPad (must enable in settings)
- Chromebook
- Lab Computers (with LDB installed)
Start-up Sequence (some exams may exclude specific checks)
- Terms agreement
- Webcam and Mic Check
- ID Check (Can add text to screen during this process)
- Environment Check (testing area)
When the quiz is selected to use with Respondus, there is a link that appears on a page after the student clicks on “Take the Quiz.” The next screen appears, which looks like this:
After student downloads the app, the student is ready to begin the exam.
Other helpful information:
- Then students begin the exam with a minimal, clean interface
- Browser screen can’t be minimized.
- No function and screen keys are available
