Sometimes, like anything online, Kaltura has some issues.

Browser:

First, try a different browser. For some reason, Chrome sometimes has a problem with Kaltura. Try Firefox or Safari (on Mac) to see if the issue persists.

Kaltura Capture:

Kaltura Capture needs to be launched from your My Media folder in Canvas. To do this, click on the “Add New” button in My Media and select Kaltura Capture. If this is the first time using Kaltura Capture, you will have to download and install the app. Then when you click again on “Add New” in My Media, you will need to accept the prompt that allows Canvas to open Kaltura Capture.

Double-clicking on the application on your computer does not sync your Kaltura credentials with Canvas. You MUST launch it through Canvas in your My Media folder.

If your videos are not uploading after you click on “Save and Upload”, you probably need to leave Kaltura Capture up and running as it uploads in the background.

You can always re-upload a video if it didn’t upload by clicking on “Manage” at the bottom right corner of the Kaltura Capture interface. This is also where the video goes if you just click on “Save” after making your video.

For the “Failure to Load Settings” message, uninstall Kaltura Capture and reinstall it.

For persistent Access Denied warnings:

You will need to reset your Kaltura token in Canvas.

  1. Within Canvas, click on "Account" in the upper main left navigation.
  2. Click "Settings" in the menu that appears.
  3. Scroll down to the section called "Approved Integrations" and click the trash can icon next to any app in the list with the word “Kaltura” in it.
  4. Enter the course where you were experiencing the "Access Denied" issue and either click on "My Media" or "Media Gallery."
  5. Click to authorize Kaltura.  A new token will be created.
  6. Attempt to view the media again.
